Questions
Frequently asked questions
Who can donate?
Anyone in the United States. The credit is federal, so relatives, friends and colleagues anywhere can help Anchorage students.
How much of my gift goes to scholarships?
At least 90% of funds collected under the new federal program are distributed as scholarships.
How are awards decided?
Equal distribution. Every student who meets our guidelines shares equally in the funds collected. More giving means a larger award for each child.
How are scholarships paid?
Scholarship awards are paid directly to the school on the child's behalf. Families don't receive or handle the funds. Scholarships can be paid for students who attend school in Kentucky.
Is my family's income shared with the Fund?
No. A third-party verifier checks the income threshold and keeps the results blind.
When does the tax credit begin?
January 1, 2027. The credit is dollar for dollar, up to $1,700 per person or $3,400 for a married couple filing jointly. It is nonrefundable, and unused credit may be carried forward. Please confirm details with your tax professional.
What if my child is just over the income limit?
Additional charitable gifts beyond the credit fund gap scholarships for students who need help but may not meet the income requirement. Please apply and tell us your situation.
Can a scholarship go to a school outside Kentucky?
Not at this time. Scholarships can be paid for students who attend school in Kentucky. Because of the regulations currently in place, we are unable to make payments to schools in other states.
Can my employer set up payroll giving?
Yes. Use the form in the Companies section, or email us, and we'll help your employer set it up.
